In 1967, Board of Directors of Bolu Chamber of Commerce resolved for establishment of a cement plant in Bolu.

In consequence of the negotiations with Turkey Cement Industry and Armed Forces Pension Fund (OYAK), Bolu Cimento Sanayii A.S. (Bolu Cement Industry Inc.), which increased its capital to TRY 40.000.000 by amending its articles of association, transferred 25% of its shares to OYAK, and 16% thereof to Turkey Cement Industry (CISAN). The shares of OYAK were more than 50% in 1990.
Upon its establishment on September 26, 1969, Bolu Cement Plant started to operate in 1974 following completion of its assembly works in 1973.
Today, annual clinker production capacity of Bolu Cement is 2.5 million tons, and its cement production capacity is 5.5 million tons.
Central Plant: Central Plant of Bolu Cement, which embodies management and other principal units of the Company, has 1.3 million tons of clinker production and an annual cement production capacity of 2.8 million tons. In August 2014, investment in electric energy production from waste heat of rotary kiln (WHR) was completed. Accordingly, 25% of the energy consumed by the plant was started to be supplied from this facility, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Ankara Branch: The branch, established as a packaging unit in Saraykoy in 1996, was converted into a grinding and packaging plant in 1998. Upon completion of investment in rotary kiln and grinding capacity increase in 2015, the plant achieved the annual grinding capacity of 1.2 million tons of clinker and 1.7 million tons of cement. Sales of Bolu Cement are carried out through this branch in the region of Ankara.
Ereğli Branch: This branch, established on an area of 45.000 m² in Eregli in the Black Sea region, has 1 million tons of grinding capacity per year. Instead of the hot air furnace, operated by natural gas, which was used in order to dry the slag during the grinding process, the investment in hot air furnace with fluidized bed was performed and put into operation in July 2014 in order to increase the drying efficiency.
Bolu Cement brought in something new in its sector, and obtained "License on Use of Wastes as an Additional Fuel" from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey. Bolu Cement became the first company obtaining certificate of conformity with Occupational Health and Safety Management System under the project coordinated by Cement Industry Employers’ Association (CEIS), and reinforced its leading position in its sector with R&D studies initiated in 2006.
Bolu Cement applied for the first patent of Turkish cement industry on 27.03.2007, and obtained the patent on December 22, 2008. The Waste Incineration System Integrated to Rotary Kiln, completed after a long period of efforts, maintains its feature of being the first patent of the industry.
